Zeroing in on Curriculum and Instruction – Convention 2015 Follow Up

At this year’s convention in Atlanta, I presented a session titled The Advanced Student at Mathnasium. At the session, I distributed a document of the same name that discusses several things to consider when working with truly advanced kids. I also provided a document titled Enrichment_for_Elementary__MdSch_#003, which lists several little known Focus Ons that are appropriate for use with these kids.

My other session was titled Afternoons With Larry. In this session I discussed why 0! = 1, and why any non-zero quantity to the zero (0) power also is 1.

Common to both sessions was an introduction to Egyptian fractions and why 0.999… both is and is not equal to one (1).

All of the documents for these session can be downloaded here [1].

Your comments and feedback are much appreciated.

Great info! One small thing in the last paragraph- I think you mean “why 0.999… both is and is not equal to one (1)” rather than “…equal to zero (0)”.

Good catch, Savannah! The typo has been fixed. 🙂
