The President used the word “math” five times in the State of the Union address in 2006. He was pointing then that the United States is not producing enough college graduates in the STEM fields.

He then appointed the National Math Advisory Panel (NMAP) and charged them with coming up with recommendation for how to “make it possible for more students to be prepared for and succeed in first year Algebra.”

The files posted here include the final report of the NMAP. Also included are a one page, a four page, and a 20 page summary of the Report that I prepared in 2008. Also included is an interesting 2007 paper titled Rising Above the Gathering Storm.
