Instructor of the Year 2018 Submission Process is Now Open!

It is time to start preparing for the 2nd Annual Mathnasium Instructor of the Year award! Last year, one of the highlights of Convention was choosing our first Instructor of the Year. This year, we hope that the excitement around this award will be even greater, so we will be working with the field team to award winners in regions as well as nationally. Each FBC will have a winner chosen in their area, and from those winners, three finalists will be brought to Convention.

What You Need to Do to Enter:

Choose your most deserving instructor.  I know it is hard, but you must pick one nominee from your organization. Create a 5-7 minute video of an interaction between your instructor and a student. The interaction should be based around Mathnasium curriculum, but can include off-the-page instruction and use of Desk Tools and manipulatives, games, extension, etc. It should not be based around a student’s homework problem.

Please submit the Instructor of the Year package, consisting of:

Send this entire package (video + Nomination Form + Individual Release Forms + one Assignment and Acknowledgement Form) to support@mathnasium.com [4], including “Instructor of the Year” in the subject line.

If the video file is too large, Google Drive, or similar cloud sharing services, can be used to create a hyperlink which can be shared with Mathnasium Support and allow us to view/download the file. Click here [5] for more information on Google Drive sharing.

Deadline for submission is April 15, 2018.

Criteria for Submissions:

Instructors will be judged on overall content and quality of interaction with the student. Specific criteria to be judged include: student engagement, use of the Mathnasium Method, construct language and concepts, use of drawings, desk tools, or manipulatives as appropriate, Socratic questioning methods, and don’t forget the fun!!! Interactions should be concise as if being delivered in a team teaching model.

Selection Process:

The videos will be judged by HQ staff, and the final 3 contestants will be brought to this year’s Mathnasium Convention. At the Convention, their submissions will be highlighted, and the final winner will be selected by the Franchisees attending Convention. The winner will receive a check for $1000 and the title of Instructor of the Year 2018, to be presented by the Master himself!

We look forward to another great year of inspiring submissions for the Instructor of the Year!
