Pi Day Materials Now Available on the Marketing Matrix!

[1]

Dear Franchisees,

Are you excited about Pi Day next month? We sure are! March 14 is the biggest math holiday of the year and the perfect opportunity to engage with customers and leads.

Use the 2019 Pi Day marketing materials (now available for the U.S. [2] and Canada [3]) on the Marketing Matrix to help get students excited about pi as well. With these materials, you can reach out to customers and leads in-center, through email, and on social media. We also encourage you to host a Pi Day party, using the Pi Day Guide for activity ideas, resources, and promotional materials. Invite parents and students to bring their friends along to your fun, family-oriented event.

We look forward to seeing many of your event photos on social media on March 14!

Am I missing the joke? Not quite sure what the phrase “We are all made of π!” is supposed to be referencing.

Discussing with my instructors, we tried several ways to trace the tagline to π. Idea 1: extension of “We are all made of stars” (Stars, round, spheres, π), or perhaps Idea 2: molecular structures (atoms, electron orbits, ellipses, π), or Idea 3: DNA (double helix, 3-dimensional trigonometric curves, π).

Each one seems a bit of a stretch.

Best thing I found to explain. “Somewhere inside the digits of pi is a representation for all of us — the atomic coordinates of all our atoms, our genetic code, a coding of our motions and all our thoughts through time, all our memories…. Given this fact, all of us are alive, and hopefully happy, in pi. Pi makes us live forever. We all lead virtual lives in pi. We are immortal.” – Cliff Pickover

Thank you Graham for your question and Joshua for your feedback! The idea behind this year’s Pi Day materials is the question of “Why should we care about pi?” The answer is that even though we can’t “see” it, pi can be found all over the natural world. It appears everywhere there’s a circle, such as the sun, the planets, and even the earth. Pi is in the physics that describes waves, such as light and sound. Pi even appears in the spiral of the DNA double-helix! So yes, because it’s literally in our DNA, we are all made of pi! 🙂

Is there an answer key for word search or a list of words that can/need to be found in the puzzle?

Hello Jessica! We had not created a list of words as we wanted it to be a thinking exercise for students to ponder the term “circular”. However, we can put a key together for Center Directors and Instructors. We’ll make it available on the Marketing Matrix in the next few days.

Hi,
Wanted to know from where can I get the: Pi Day Guide for activity ideas and other resources? Thank you for help.

Hello, Puneet! The Pi Day Guide is now available on the Marketing Matrix. You can either login and search for “Pi Day Guide,” or click on the folder “Themed and Seasonal Materials,” then “March Holiday Materials,” and you will find it amidst the Pi Day materials.
